It was raining the weekend we named her, which I mention because it matters to how the name arrived. We had been running the migration since Friday, the long one, the one that touches the user table, and by Saturday afternoon the agent had rewritten the rollback script three times, each time more politely. My partner was in the kitchen. The cat was on the router, which is warm. Somebody said we should just call it something, and somebody else said not Jarvis, and there was a silence of the kind that happens in a house where three creatures are awake at once and only one of them is billing.

I went outside to take the recycling out. The moon was up, in the middle of the afternoon, the way it sometimes is, pale and unbothered and clearly working a second shift. I came back in and said it, and the cat looked up, which I am told is a coincidence.

The migration finished at 2:14. Nobody cheered. Luna wrote a summary that was exactly as long as it needed to be, and I have been trying to live up to it since. Anyway. The name.
